University Overview

Its origins trace back to 1843 with the founding of the Nottingham Government School of Design. It evolved through various forms, including Trent Polytechnic (formed in 1970 from the merger of several colleges). It was granted university status in 1992 under the UK's Further and Higher Education Act, becoming Nottingham Trent University. A transformative £450 million investment since the 2000s has created its modern, city-centre campuses, including the landmark Newton and Arkwright buildings. It has deep roots in providing vocational and creative education to the region.
