University Overview

Its origins trace back to 1876 with the founding of the leading tutorial firm Gibson & Weldon. It was established as The College of Law of England and Wales in 1962, becoming the first independent institution to be granted degree-awarding powers in 2006. It was purchased by Montagu Private Equity in 2012 and became The University of Law. It has since expanded beyond its traditional London and Guildford bases to campuses in major UK cities and has established international partnerships. Its history is defined by adapting to changes in legal professional training.
