University Overview

Founded in 1920 as University College of Swansea, it was the fourth college of the University of Wales. It became the University of Wales, Swansea in 1996, before gaining independent degree-awarding powers and adopting the name Swansea University in 2007. A transformative development was the opening of its £450 million Bay Campus in 2015, housing the College of Engineering and the School of Management. Its Singleton Park Campus is a traditional site. The university has a distinguished history in materials science and engineering, contributing to projects like the Airbus A380.
