University of Portsmouth

Its origins trace back to 1869 with the founding of the Portsmouth and Gosport School of Science and Art. It became Portsmouth Polytechnic in 1969. It was granted university status in 1992 under the UK's Further and Higher Education Act, becoming the University of Portsmouth. A major £400 million campus redevelopment from the 1990s onward transformed its facilities, including the Spinnaker Tower landmark. The university has built a reputation for turning technical and vocational roots into a modern, research-informed, and globally connected institution.
