University Overview
Founded in 1973 as Middlesex Polytechnic, formed from the merger of several older colleges in North London. It was granted university status in 1992. A significant part of its history was its rapid international expansion in the 1990s and 2000s, establishing campuses in Dubai, Mauritius, and Malta. In the 2010s, it consolidated its UK operations onto a single, modernised campus in Hendon. Its name derives from the historic county of Middlesex, and its evolution reflects a shift from a multi-site polytechnic to a globally connected, modern university.
