University Overview

The university was created in 2002 from the merger of two historic institutions: the University of North London (founded 1896 as the Northern Polytechnic) and London Guildhall University (founded 1848 as the City of London College). It initially operated as London Metropolitan University before rebranding to London Met in 2008. Its history is deeply rooted in providing technical, vocational, and professional education to the people of London, particularly non-traditional students. It consolidated its operations onto a single campus in Holloway, North London, in the 2010s.
