University Overview

The university was formed in 1993 from the merger of two established institutions: The Queen's College, Glasgow (founded 1875) and Glasgow Polytechnic (founded 1971). It was initially named Glasgow Caledonian University, reflecting its new unified identity. A major campus redevelopment in 2011 created its modern city centre facilities. It was granted university title at its inception due to the merger, and its mission is deeply rooted in the vocational and technical education traditions of its predecessor colleges.
