University Overview

The university's origins trace back to 1964, when it was established as the Napier Technical College, named after 16th-century Scottish mathematician and philosopher John Napier. It became Napier College of Commerce and Technology in 1966, then Napier Polytechnic of Edinburgh in 1986. It was granted university status in 1992 as Napier University and adopted the name Edinburgh Napier University in 2009 to strengthen its identity within Scotland's capital. Its evolution reflects a consistent mission of providing accessible, career-relevant higher education.
