University Overview

Founded in 1968 as the College of Food and Domestic Arts, it later became Birmingham College of Food, Tourism and Creative Studies. It gained degree-awarding powers in 2007 and was granted full university title in 2012, becoming University College Birmingham. While it has its own degree-awarding powers and university title, it maintains a long-standing academic partnership with the University of Birmingham, which validates some of its degrees. Its history is defined by a consistent focus on vocational excellence in the service and creative industries.
