University Overview

The university was established in 1992, gaining university status under the UK's Further and Higher Education Act. Its roots, however, date back to the early 20th century with the founding of predecessors like the Bournemouth Municipal College. A pivotal moment was the creation of the National Centre for Computer Animation (NCCA) in 1989, which predated the university itself and quickly became a world leader in its field. BU has consistently grown its reputation around its fusion of academic excellence with professional practice.
