University Overview

Its origins date back to 1843 with the founding of the Birmingham College of Art. It expanded through mergers with other colleges, most notably becoming the University of Central England in Birmingham (UCE) in 1992. It adopted its current name, Birmingham City University, in 2007 to better reflect its location and civic mission. A major £260 million investment created its modern city centre campus at STEAMhouse, consolidating its focus on innovation and creative technology.
