The University of Regina is a public research university based in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada. Founded in 1911 as a private denominational high school of the Methodist Church of Canada, the university opened in 1925 as a junior college with the University of Saskatchewan and became an autonomous university in 1974. With 16,500+ students enrolled in its 10 faculties, 25 academic departments and schools, 18 research centers and institutes, and 3 federated colleges, U of R is a comprehensive institution. The main campus and historic College Avenue campus in Regina are situated on 239 acres within Wascana Park, one of North America's largest urban parks.
