Texas Wesleyan University

Texas Wesleyan University was founded in 1890 as Polytechnic College by the Methodist Episcopal Church, South. The college was established to provide education in engineering, business, and liberal arts. In 1902, the institution was renamed Texas Woman's College, reflecting its focus on educating women. The college became coeducational in 1934 and was renamed Texas Wesleyan College. In 1950, the institution became Texas Wesleyan University. The School of Law was established in 1992 through the acquisition of the former Dallas/Fort Worth School of Law. The university has maintained its Methodist affiliation while welcoming students of all faiths. Texas Wesleyan has been recognized for its first-generation student support and upward mobility outcomes. The university celebrated its 130th anniversary in 2020 and continues to expand its programs and facilities
