University Overview

SRH Hochschule Berlin was founded in 2002 after receiving approval from the Berlin Senate. The university was established as a new type of higher education institution, designed to integrate methodological flexibility into teaching and learning. In 2005, the university underwent significant restructuring with new commercial investment and produced its first cohort of bachelor's degree graduates. In November 2007, the university successfully acquired the private art school SRH and was renamed SRH Hochschule Berlin. Throughout the 2010s, the university expanded its programme offerings and established new schools including the Berlin School of Design and Communication and the Berlin School of Popular Arts. SRH Berlin developed its innovative CORE (Competence-Oriented Research and Education) teaching principle, revolutionizing traditional higher education with focused 5-week modules and continuous feedback. In 2021, the university held an online exchange with Xi'an University of Technology in China, exploring potential 3+1 student exchange programs and summer programs. In 2024, the new campus in Berlin's Neukölln district was inaugurated, further expanding the university's facilities. The SRH Campus Berlin received the prestigious German Design Award 2026, recognized for its innovative architecture, inspiring learning environments, and unique brand atmosphere.
