University Overview

Geneva Business School was founded in 1995 as the Institut de Formation de Gestionnaire de Patrimoine (IFGP) in response to the financial industry's growing demand for continuous vocational training, primarily serving private bankers in Switzerland. In 2001, the institution was reestablished as the University of Finance, offering specialized education in international banking and finance. In 2003, the University of Finance acquired Geneva Business Institute, resulting in the formation of the Business & Management University, marking its evolution into a comprehensive institution for business education. In 2009, the school's name was officially changed to Geneva Business School to reflect its emphasis on practical business education. In 2012, GBS expanded its global presence by opening its Barcelona campus, followed by the Madrid campus in 2018. In 2017, the Geneva campus relocated to a new facility opposite the United Nations. In 2020, both the Barcelona and Madrid campuses moved to brand new, state-of-the-art facilities. In 2023, GBS and the World Federation of United Nations Associations (WFUNA) successfully completed their first joint educational initiative – an Advanced Training Program. Today, GBS celebrates over 30 years of Swiss-quality education with a growing alumni network and plans for further expansion.
