University Overview

Fulton-Montgomery Community College was established in 1963 through a partnership between the State University of New York and the local community. The college opened its doors in 1964 with initial classes held at the former Gloversville High School. In 1967, the college moved to its current campus in Johnstown following a donation of land by the local community. The campus grew throughout the 1970s and 1980s with the addition of academic buildings, a library, and student services facilities. In the 1990s, the college expanded its workforce development programs to meet regional economic needs. The Raub Theatre and the FMCC Performing Arts Center have become cultural hubs for the region. FMCC has maintained strong transfer articulation agreements with four-year SUNY institutions. The college celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2013 and continues to serve as an educational and cultural resource for the Mohawk Valley.
