University Overview

Contra Costa College was established in 1949 to serve the educational needs of west Contra Costa County. The college initially operated in temporary facilities before moving to its permanent campus in San Pablo in 1951. During the 1960s and 1970s, the college expanded its programs and facilities to accommodate the region's growing population. The college has long served a diverse student body and was at the forefront of developing ethnic studies programs. In 2006, voters approved Measure E, a bond measure that funded extensive campus renovations and new construction. The college has maintained strong partnerships with local industry and four-year universities. In recent years, CCC has focused on equity initiatives and student success programs. The college continues to evolve its curriculum to meet the needs of its diverse community.
